The Institute of Palliative Medicine
acts as the policy, research and training institution of the Pain and Palliative Care Society

Institute of Palliative Medicine has been designated as the
World Health Organization Collaborating Center (WHOCC)
for Community Participation in Palliative Care and Long Term Care
with a mandate to advise WHO and Member states on
issues related to community participation in
palliative care and long term care.
The terms of reference also include development of
training modules and guidelines for home care
for the Low and Middle Income countries.

It is also the nodal agency for initiating and implementing
community based palliative care programme under
National Rural Health Mission (KERALA)
